SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT UPON YOUR DEMANDS
We understand the entire project and product life cycle and offer our Engineering Services to come up with a cost-effective solution that meets the demands of our customer. We are able to carry out entire space projects and support system development with our experience.
A lot of thinking, this is the start in any kind of development project. Based on research, a new idea is formulated and described. Its always beneficial to take into account the heritage and lessons-learned of former projects! The top-level requirements are defined and validated along with feasibility studies which yield first estimates of the development effort in terms of costs, development time and achievable performance.
CONCEPT & ARCHITECTURE
Technology research, conceptual designs, bainstorming, definition of architectures and many trade-offs are the starting point of this step. EMM’s experienced engineers are used to work as a well-coordinated team. Our concurrent design approach includes all required engineering disciplines and the tooling is based on our Engineering Services that come into action on demand. Especially, System, Requirements and Verification Engineering and FEM-based simulations are the core of this phase. But also planning and cost estimations are required to establish the overall picture of the development activity.
DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
Based on the selected concept, the detailed system design is performed. Computed-aided engineering support the design tasks including mechanics and electronics design, configuration control, structural and thermal analysis, reliability enhancement as well as test and verification planning. The development also includes manufacturing of modules and subsystems along with its support equipment like test stands and data acquisition software. Depending on the mission philosophy, models like EM, QM, FM or combinations thereof are developed and handed over into the following steps.
INTEGRATION & TEST
Assemblies, modules and subsystems are integrated into physical models of the system. In combination with dedicated test equipment, commissioning and functional testing in the laboratory is carried out. Test procedures derived from the test plans ensure a systematic step-by-step execution tests that are in line with the quality assurance standards. At all system levels, verification includes inspection, analysis and test data evaluation to make sure that all system requirements have been fulfilled.
QUALIFICATION & IMPLEMENTATION
Qualification ensures that the system performs its intended function in the dedicated environment. Depending on the corresponding model, the focus is on functional and/or environmental qualification. Radiation and lifetime testing, that impairs system lifetime are performed with representative units. Thermal, thermal-vacuum, vibration test are important steps for a QM or a FM with its dedicated qualification or acceptance levels and durations. Product assurance complements all verification activities to ensure final acceptance at the customer.
